House Manager & Family Assistant (Meal Prep Focus)

Location : Davis, California 95616 Employment Type : Part-Time (1099 Contractor) Proposed Start Date : ASAP Compensation : $38–45 per hour based on experience Proposed Schedule : 15–20 hours per week, across 2–3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday preferred). Flexible working window between 9:00 AM–9:00 PM (afternoons preferred). Occasional Saturdays are possible if the candidate is open to it. Dad works full-time and Mom works part-time while juggling all of the family responsibilities, meaning our schedules are demanding and our evenings revolve around sports practices, games, and homework. Our boys are independent and full of life, but between work, practices, and school, we experience substantial decision fatigue around dinner and day-to-day logistics. We are seeking a warm, proactive House Manager & Family Assistant who can step in, take true ownership of our kitchen and daily organization, and bring calm, nourishing ease to our family's weekly rhythm. Key Qualities Include Passionate, experienced, and confident in meal planning, batch cooking, and prep Proactive self-starter with exceptional initiative; makes decisions independently Outgoing, warm, and authentic personality with great energy Comfortable in a high-traffic, busy household with active boys Organized, detail-oriented, and structured behind the scenes Dependable and highly professional Strong communicator who values open, straightforward collaboration Flexible availability and content with a part-time schedule Dog-friendly and happy to interact with family pets Key Responsibilities Meal Planning & Preparation Plan and cook 3 healthy, family-friendly dinners in-home each week Prepare nutritious, grab-and-go snacks and meal options tailored for after-school and pre/post-practice fueling (feeding boys around 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM) Manage grocery planning and shopping cycles (Costco, local grocery stores) Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including daily counter clearing, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and post-cooking kitchen resets Household Management & Organization Perform daily resets, counter sweeps, and light tidying to keep main living areas calm and uncluttered Prepare and reset the home ahead of weekly Thursday/Friday cleaner visits Take full ownership of the pantry and snack cabinets (restocking, organizing, maintaining inventory) Lead seasonal clothing swaps for the boys (summer/winter transitions) Coordinate decluttering projects and handle drop-offs for donated items Break down delivery and recycling boxes regularly Inventory Management & Errands Monitor household inventory and restock pantry, fridge, and everyday supplies Run household errands including dry cleaning drop-offs/pickups, returns, and store runs Provide occasional errand and snack restocking support for Dad’s law firm in Sacramento (e.g., Costco runs) Receive and manage incoming mail and packages Pet Care Provide regular care for 2 family dogs (Golden Retriever and Boston Terrier) Assist with dog walking and feedings during shift hours Help with routine yard cleanup (occasional pet waste removal) Keep pet food and supplies organized and stocked Laundry & Linen Care Provide light laundry support (washing, folding, putting away) to supplement existing routines Assist with quick linen rotations and keeping laundry areas tidy Family Support & Administrative Logistics Help set up, sync and support the family schedule across digital tools (Skylight) Assist with occasional, backup school or practice drop-offs and pick-ups as needed (kids are largely independent) Deep Cleaning & Special Projects Periodically clean and reorganize the refrigerator, freezer, and high-traffic snack zones Assist with targeted organizational projects (sports gear sorting, toy resets, mudroom flow) #J-18808-Ljbffr Sage-Haus
