Engineering Applications Administrator

Overview SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. Job Description Summary: The Applications Administrator reports to the Business Applications Manager to assist in the management of our proprietary software. Duties include providing exceptional technical support and user administration for our industry leading in-house platforms. Promote technology awareness, adoption, and effective use, while continuously providing feedback on business process and application improvements. The position is team oriented and responsible for the coordination and completion of the assigned projects. This role is hybrid, with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process. Position Responsibilities and Duties Lead the setup, onboarding, and QA of PV solar site builds within our proprietary software in collaboration with engineering, jobsite project teams and 3rd party vendors. Administer and maintain user access and removal requests, and manage permissions based on user roles and responsibilities. Collaborate with the development team to QA test all new iPad & mobile application builds before deployment through MDM; this requires detail-orientation. Provide technical support through voice, email, ticketing systems, Teams, or other methods of communication. Support end users with troubleshooting and recreating user errors, and tracking issues in a ticketing system. Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mobile device errors and app crashes; resolve independently. If escalation is needed, collaborate with the development team providing documentation of issues through photos or video for developer assessment. Assist with the development and maintenance of knowledgebases, FAQs and documentation. Provide demonstrations or tutorials as required. Assist project teams and management with data extraction and report generation. Participate in platform improvement and development scoping exercises as a subject matter expert with an emphasis on providing voice of customer feedback. Effectively communicate and demonstrate new features or enhancements of applications to users of the platform through bi-weekly calls or preferred method of contact. Deliver communications to all jobsites and field technicians to coordinate system updates, patches, and potential outages. Run redesigns or fixes in off-peak user hours to not interfere with daily operations. Assist in the training of new jobsite teams and field technicians on use of SOLV Energy applications. Support the talent development team with the creation, administration, and delivery of job role specific application training. Coordinate with IT and Software Development teams for fixes and enhancements to SOLV Energy applications & other interconnected systems. Assist in the tracking and asset management of all iPads, TVs, and other hardware related to business applications, including applying protective screens or casings as needed. Facilitate ordering additional application specific iPads, charging boxes and accessories as needed. Executes quality control practices and procedures for all applications and platforms. Complete other responsibilities as assigned. Objectives or Goals to Measure Performance Successful setup and maintenance of projects within SOLV Energy software applications Timely responses to support requests Proactive involvement in scoping new features and capabilities based on voice of customer Promote a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing Promote and facilitate training, encourage adoption and usage of the platform Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements: 2+ years of Application / System Administration experience within an IT or related organization preferred 2 years of Construction or related PV solar industry experience required Experience troubleshooting iOS and/or Android mobile devices preferred Experience working with different operating systems including Windows and Mac OS Ability to read and understand project documentation including but not limited to contract scopes of work, construction drawings and schematics including electrical and mechanical, equipment data sheets Effective problem-solving ability and strong analytical skills Customer escalation and conflict resolution skills desirable Ability to multi-task between complex projects and operational requests Ability to thrive and collaborate in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary work environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with writing technical solution articles, user documentation and training material Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint Experience with application back-end technical configuration Knowledge of relational database theory General knowledge of database schemas Practiced in Software Quality Assurance & bug reporting Experience using task management tools including MS Teams, Smartsheet, or others Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
