Speech/Language Pathologist

Reports To: Principal

Salary: Based on salary schedule for 187 days.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Goal: To provide a comprehensive program of speech/language services to appropriately identified students and assist them in becoming effective communicators.

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated per provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of personnel.

Qualifications:

1. Must complete a criminal background check through the Alabama State Department of Education at your own expense.
2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and write an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student enrolled in the speech and language program.
2. Select or prepare materials and supplies for program implementation including therapy, classroom, and home activities.
3. Sequence activities appropriately.
4. Plan educationally relevant therapy.
5. Establish schedules for delivery of services.
6. Prepare reports and interpret state standards for program eligibility.
7. Prepare and maintain audit files on students in the speech/language program.
8. Establish and maintain a positive, organized and safe learning environment.
9. Establish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective.
10. Manage materials and equipment effectively.
11. Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
12. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
13. Maintains and submits records and reports.
14. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
15. Engages in personal and professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
16. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
