Role Description This is a full-time Surgical Coordinator role based in Plantation and Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Surgical Coordinator will manage and schedule surgical procedures, ensuring accuracy of dates, times, locations, and necessary pre-operative instructions. Responsibilities include verifying insurance coverage and benefits, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating with patients, providers, and surgical facilities. The role involves preparing and organizing surgical paperwork, maintaining up-to-date records in practice systems, and confirming that pre- and post-operative appointments are scheduled appropriately. The Surgical Coordinator will also answer patient questions, provide clear instructions, address concerns in a professional and empathetic manner, and collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to support an efficient, patient-focused surgical experience. Qualifications Proficiency in surgery scheduling and coordinating procedures, with strong attention to detail and time management. Working knowledge of medical terminology to understand provider orders, documentation, and clinical notes. Experience with insurance verification, authorizations, and benefits checking for surgical procedures. Dynamic persinality with excellent customer service and communication skills for interacting with patients, families, providers, and staff. Previous experience in a medical office or surgical practice setting preferred. Comfort using electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software. Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and follow HIPAA and practice policies. Some college educstiin required; additional training or certification in medical office administration or a related field is a plus.
