HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Position: Athletic Director Location: Van Jr./Sr. High School Classification: Extra-Curricular Assignment Supplement: $1,500 Reports To: Principal Position Summary The Athletic Director will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of the interscholastic athletic programs at Van Jr./Sr. High School. The Athletic Director will work closely with the principal, coaches, school personnel, students, parents, and community to promote a safe, organized, and successful athletic program that supports the educational mission of Boone County Schools. Duties and Responsibilities The Athletic Director shall: Coordinate and oversee the athletic programs and activities of Van Jr./Sr. High School. Work with the principal to develop and coordinate athletic schedules, contests, tournaments, and special athletic events. Maintain communication with coaches regarding schedules, transportation, facilities, officials, and other athletic needs. Assist with the scheduling and use of athletic facilities. Coordinate with appropriate personnel regarding transportation for athletic teams and events. Ensure athletic events are properly staffed and supervised. Assist with arrangements for game officials, security, ticket personnel, event workers, and other necessary personnel. Maintain accurate athletic schedules, records, and other required documentation. Assist in ensuring student-athlete eligibility requirements and required documentation are completed and maintained. Promote compliance with Boone County Schools policies, West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission (WVSSAC) regulations, and other applicable rules and procedures. Communicate schedule changes, cancellations, and other athletic information to coaches, administrators, students, families, and appropriate personnel. Promote sportsmanship and appropriate conduct among coaches, student-athletes, spectators, and others attending athletic events. Assist the administration with addressing concerns related to athletic programs and activities. Coordinate the proper use, care, and security of athletic facilities and equipment. Attend athletic events as necessary to ensure appropriate supervision and coordination. Work cooperatively with school administration in evaluating the needs and effectiveness of the athletic program. Perform other athletic-related duties as assigned by the principal or Superintendent/designee. Qualifications Must meet all applicable Boone County Schools Demonstrated knowledge of school athletics, athletic scheduling, and extracurricular programs preferred. Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple athletic activities and events. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, coaches, administrators, parents, officials, and community members. Must demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, dependability, and a commitment to student safety and sportsmanship. Compensation The Athletic Director will receive an extra-curricular supplement of $1,500 for the assignment.
