Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a telemetry unit specializing in transplant care. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on single and multi-organ transplant patients, including those with LVAD devices.

Position Details

• Unit: 25 Tower - Transplant
• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, including those post-op.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient conditions and report any significant changes to the medical team.
• Read telemetry strips; although tele/monitor technicians are available, RNs will interpret as needed.
• Assist with procedures and treatments as necessary, including the administration of cardiac drips.
• Titrate medications based on established protocols.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding treatment plans and health maintenance.
• Floating to like units is required when necessary.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar setting; 3+ years preferred.
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, NIHSS certification.
• Experience: Experience with LVAD and cardiac care preferred.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills; familiarity with dopplers for MAPP assessment.

Work Environment

This is a busy, high-acuity telemetry unit with a total of 28 beds and a nursing ratio of 1:4. The RN will work nights and participate in every other weekend rotations. A flexible schedule is required, as self-scheduling is not available.

• Orientation: Two shifts unit orientation will be provided.
• Parking: Daily parking is available, with options for monthly parking passes.
• Equipment Utilization: Proficiency in using BiPap, Cpap, and high flow oxygen equipment is expected.
