Senior Staff Forward Deployment Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Forward Deployment Engineer to embed with internal teams and external customers, understand business workflows, pain points, and goals, and design, build, and deploy production-quality technology solutions that address concrete business problems.

This is a highly technical, senior-level role requiring a combination of Product Management, Technical Program Management, Software Engineering, Data Product, Stakeholder Management, and Customer-Facing Solution Delivery expertise.

The ideal candidate will have experience delivering large-scale data and technology initiatives across complex, operationally intensive environments. The role requires someone who can operate effectively in ambiguity, bring structure to evolving requirements, manage multiple dependencies, communicate with executives and technical teams, and drive solutions from prototype through production deployment .

The successful candidate will work across AI/GenAI, data, software platforms, integrations, and automation , rapidly prototype solutions, validate them with users, and transition successful concepts into reliable and scalable production applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Forward Deployment & Solution Development

• Embed with internal teams and external customers to understand business workflows, pain points, requirements, goals, and operational challenges .
• Design and deploy technology, data, AI/GenAI, software, integration, and automation solutions aligned with customer and business needs.
• Develop production-quality code, integrations, applications, automations, and software components .
• Create rapid prototypes, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and solution demonstrations , iterate based on direct user feedback, and transition successful solutions into scalable production environments.
• Select appropriate technical options, including reusing, improving, reconfiguring, or developing new components and solutions .
• Apply appropriate design patterns, development standards, templates, and reusable solutions to optimize application development, maintenance, performance, cost, and quality.
• Interpret application, feature, component, and technical designs and develop solutions in accordance with specifications.
• Code, debug, test, document, and communicate product/component/feature development throughout the SDLC.
• Advise Software Developers on application design, development, technical implementation, and the business problem being solved .
• Contribute to HLD, LLD, SAD, architecture, application features, business components, and data models .
• Build and maintain solutions that improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, scalability, and business outcomes .

Data & Technology Program Management

• Lead and manage large-scale data and technology initiatives across multiple stakeholders, systems, teams, dependencies, and workstreams.
• Manage delivery of modules, features, user stories, applications, and data products .
• Establish structure, clarity, priorities, timelines, dependencies, risks, and execution plans in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments .
• Manage project schedules, milestones, deliverables, resources, risks, dependencies, and technical challenges.
• Provide input into effort estimation, resource requirements, development timelines, and project planning .
• Identify technical and project risks and make timely decisions to maintain delivery momentum.
• Drive execution across both business and technical teams while maintaining ownership of outcomes.
• Optimize solutions for efficiency, cost, quality, reliability, and performance .

Testing, Quality & Defect Management

• Create and review unit test cases, test scenarios, test plans, and test results .
• Evaluate test results against product specifications and expected business outcomes.
• Validate solutions in customer and target environments .
• Work with testing teams to provide requirements clarification and technical guidance.
• Perform defect root-cause analysis (RCA) and mitigation.
• Identify defect trends and proactively implement measures to improve software quality and production stability .
• Monitor and reduce defects during development and after production delivery.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, engineering processes, development templates, checklists, and quality standards .
• Review code for team members and peers.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as a trusted technical partner to internal teams, external customers, business stakeholders, technical teams, and senior executives .
• Clarify business and technical requirements and provide guidance to development teams.
• Present technical designs, solution options, prototypes, architecture decisions, and recommendations to customers and senior stakeholders.
• Conduct product demonstrations, solution walkthroughs, and customer presentations .
• Lead customer conference calls and address technical, product, and delivery questions.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear communication for executive, business, and technical audiences .
• Build customer confidence through high-quality, on-time delivery and proactive communication .
• Influence customer satisfaction by understanding domain requirements and identifying opportunities to deliver additional value.
• Interface with other teams, designers, engineering groups, technical practices, and parallel workstreams .

Release & Configuration Management

• Execute and monitor software/application release processes .
• Define and govern configuration management plans .
• Ensure development teams comply with configuration management, engineering, and project standards.
• Support deployment, commissioning, release readiness, and production stabilization.
• Validate and integrate the overall solution before customer deployment.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

• Create and review design documentation, requirements documentation, technical specifications, test cases, test results, templates, checklists, guidelines, and development standards .
• Maintain project-related documentation, reusable assets, process documentation, and knowledge repositories.
• Contribute reusable documentation and best practices for future programs.
• Review reusable documents created by project teams and ensure consistency with established standards.
• Consume and contribute to SharePoint, project libraries, internal knowledge repositories, and client learning resources .
• Document technical decisions, lessons learned, solution approaches, and implementation requirements.

Team Leadership

• Manage and coordinate technical teams and project resources as required.
• Set FAST goals for self and team members.
• Provide coaching, feedback, guidance, and development opportunities to team members.
• Understand team-member aspirations and provide appropriate support and opportunities.
• Maintain team engagement, motivation, and positive team dynamics.
• Promote collaboration across engineering, product, data, design, and business teams.

Domain & Business Partnership

• Develop a deep understanding of the customer domain and business sub-domain in which solutions are being delivered.
• Identify opportunities where technology, data, AI/GenAI, automation, or software can provide additional customer value.
• Advise technical teams based on a strong understanding of the business problem, operational workflow, and customer requirements .
• Quickly learn new business, technical, organizational, and domain concepts and apply them effectively.
• Complete relevant domain and technology certifications as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in a Product Manager, Technical Program Manager, Senior Technical Product, Data Product, Forward Deployment, or technology leadership capacity.
• Experience managing large-scale Data or technology initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, systems, dependencies, and workstreams.
• Strong Stakeholder Management experience across business, technical, executive, and customer-facing teams.
• Experience delivering Data or technology solutions for frontline or operationally intensive business units , preferably Retail, Care, or similar environments.
• Strong ability to operate in ambiguity , establish structure, clarify requirements, and drive execution.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, risks, timelines, and technical challenges under pressure.
• Strong executive communication and presentation skills , with the ability to tailor messaging for senior leaders, technical teams, customers, and business audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities .
• Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery methodologies.
• Strong understanding of application development, software components, data models, DBMS, operating systems, software platforms, and technical architecture .
• Ability to interpret technical designs and contribute to HLD, LLD, SAD, architecture, and data-model development .
• Experience with coding, debugging, testing, documentation, code reviews, and production-quality software development .
