Summary Public Health Seattle‑King County is accepting applications for Registered Nurse (RN) correctional health specialty. Our nurses provide skilled, medically needed health care to adults in custody at the King County Jails. Join our team to provide outstanding health care to a diverse and underserved population. Responsibilities Provide patient care based upon practice guidelines, community standards of care, and federal and state laws and regulations. Conduct nursing assessments and interventions including medical, dental and psychiatric screening. Monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. Evaluate, monitor and treat drug and alcohol withdrawal. Carry out prescribed treatments and wound care. Administer medications and vaccinations. Provide mental health services as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Respond to emergencies throughout the facility; perform CPR when needed. Provide health education. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Current Washington State Registered Nurse license in good standing. Associate degree in nursing science or higher-level nursing degree (BSN, MSN, DNP, or PhD) from an accredited nursing school. Must pass a security clearance, background check, pre‑employment physical and credentialing. Basic Life Support – CPR for health care providers. Valid Washington State Driver’s License or ability to travel to various sites within Seattle‑King County. Work Schedule Positions are fully benefitted, career service with a range of 0.8 – 1.0 FTE. Any of the positions can cover morning, evening and/or night shifts. May work outside the typical schedule to meet operational needs. Positions are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and are overtime eligible. Work Location The primary work location is the King County Correctional Facility at 500 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104.
