The company is currently seeking an experienced Cost Accountant . Responsibilities Cost Accountant I Position Summary & Primary Purpose Reporting to the Manager of Cost Accounting, as a part of a cross‑functional team, this person supports forecasting, cost and project accounting responsibilities. Major Areas of Responsibility Daily processing of contract orders and changes Monthly review and forecasting of less complex projects and other short‑cycle orders Maintain project budgets and revenue recognition in ERP systems Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures (JSOX) Testing and implementation of special projects as required Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Meet regularly with Operations personnel to gauge project financial performance Publish various managerial accounting reports Process improvement Basic Broad Knowledge English Language Basic knowledge of cost and US GAAP accounting principles Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel) Basic Skills & Abilities Time Management Critical Thinking – using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Analytical ability as it pertains to understanding and explaining manufacturing variances as well as other types of analysis. Judgment and Decision Making – considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Monitoring – monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Qualifications Basic Skills & Abilities Verbal and Written Expression and Recognition – the ability to listen to, understand and communicate information and ideas presented through spoken or written words and sentences. Information Ordering – the ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). Problem Sensitivity – the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem. Maintains attention to detail, completing multiple or repetitive tasks. Demonstrates a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines. Flexibility required to meet reporting deadlines is required. Hands‑on style and able to work with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills, flexibility, punctuality and reliability are required. Education & Experience BS degree in accounting, finance or related field and/or equivalent experience in a cost accounting role in a manufacturing and/or Engineer‑to‑order environment. Experience with manufacturing environment a plus. Experience with SAP a plus Demonstrated Physical Abilities Remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
