The responsibilities of the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant include, but are not limited to: Conduct resident screenings (without interpretation) as permitted by state practice act. Assist residents with rehabilitative activities and exercises as outlined in a treatment plan developed in collaboration with an occupational therapist. Monitor individuals' activities to ensure they are performed correctly and provide encouragement as needed. Record residents' progress for use by the occupational therapist. May assist with scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, restocking or ordering supplies, and completing insurance forms or other paperwork. Provide training to residents, caregivers, and families according to the Occupational Therapist's care plan. Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations. Experience and Skills: Associate's Degree from an AOTA accredited program. Licensed COTA, if required by state law. Physical Demands and Environment: Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, see, talk, and hear. Employee may occasionally assist in lifting and/or transferring patients weighing between 100 to 250 pounds. Employee may be occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
