Production Engineer

Production Engineer Opportunity

Ashland LLC business at our Columbus, OH plant is looking for a Production Engineer. This is a significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. The position will report to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing technical support for manufacturing personnel for process troubleshooting, safety, and quality at a 24/7 GMP batch facility producing APIs and intermediates, personal care products, and specialty chemicals
• Working collaboratively with site and corporate R&D staff to scale new chemistries from lab scale to plant scale
• Supporting site engineering in the design and implementation of capital projects and support new equipment coming on-line
• Collecting and analyzing data from processes to help make decisions regarding batch quality and yield
• Working cross-functionally with site quality, maintenance, and materials departments to meet strategic production goals in a safe and timely manner
• Supporting Process Safety Management efforts by participating in Process Hazard Analyses, submitting Management of Change requests, updating and improving operating procedures, and recommending and implementing process changes when appropriate
• Supporting Production Manager and staff with ongoing continuous improvement efforts
• Estimated travel of 10% to support site projects and gain on-the-job training as necessary

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
• 1-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting
• A strong technical background in organic chemistry and unit operations

Preferred skill sets:

• Previous experience working in a GMP and/or PSM facility
• Six Sigma yellow or green belt certification with experience in experimental design and analysis
