This contract opportunity spans the full academic year, providing either full-time or part-time flexibility to accommodate your schedule. Located near Lowell, MA, this position calls for a dedicated professional eager to make a lasting impact while working onsite in an inclusive environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Massachusetts Department of Education VI Teacher License required
- Strong knowledge of best practices for teaching students who are visually impaired
- Successful completion of Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTELs)
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school-based setting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct and assist students with visual impairments, tailoring curriculum to diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with school staff and families
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and daily living skills
- Advocate for students’ accessibility and accommodations across academic and extracurricular environments
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding student progress and needs
- Participate in professional development and school meetings as required
