Job Description

The Department
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a dynamic and growing academic department committed to excellence in patient care, education, research, and community engagement. The department is staffed by University of Florida physicians and encompasses specialty divisions in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, and General Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The department provides comprehensive women’s health services across Northeast Florida through a growing network of clinical locations, including UF Health Jacksonville, the region’s premier academic health center and tertiary referral hospital; UF Health North, a full-service medical campus in North Jacksonville offering inpatient and outpatient women’s health services; and multiple ambulatory practices throughout the region. These include the Emerson Women’s Health Center, the Elizabeth G. Means Center, Generation-to-Generation Women’s Care in Orange Park, and the expanding UF Health St. Johns (Durbin Park) campus, serving one of the fastest-growing communities in Northeast Florida.
The department has a robust research enterprise supporting faculty scholarship, clinical trials, and translational research. It also sponsors an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program and is committed to preparing the next generation of physicians, educators, and physician leaders.
With expertise spanning the full spectrum of women’s health, advanced clinical capabilities, and a highly accomplished faculty, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is well positioned for continued growth and innovation across its clinical, academic, and research missions.
The Opportunity
The Chair will join a strong and collaborative leadership team committed to advancing the academic, clinical, and research missions of UF Health Jacksonville and the University of Florida. The continued growth of Northeast Florida, combined with the statewide reputation, resources, and academic strength of UF Health, creates significant opportunities for the Chair to expand clinical programs, develop innovative models of care, strengthen research and scholarship, enhance graduate medical education, and advance the department’s regional and national reputation.
The Chair will provide strategic and operational leadership for the department and will be responsible for advancing its clinical, academic, research, and educational missions. The Chair will work closely with faculty, department leadership, hospital and health system leaders, and University partners to identify opportunities for growth, strengthen collaboration, and ensure alignment with the broader priorities of UF COM-J and UF Health.
A particular opportunity for the next Chair will be to lead the continued development and strategic expansion of women’s health services throughout Northeast Florida, including growth within the rapidly expanding UF Health St. Johns market.
