Overview Linguist II [Phonetics, phonology expert] The main function of a Linguist is to determine speech data needs and set a strategic vision for data-based model and product improvements. Responsibilities Phonetics, phonology Setting data and strategy Audio to text transcription Must-Have Skills Knowledge of phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, dialectology, and other areas of linguistics. Transcription knowledge in systems such as SAMPA, IPA, and ToBI. Native or near-native speaker of at least two languages. One must be English. Second could be any language (Thai, Tagalog, German, Italian, French preferred). Data engineering. Data querying and technical skills, Python and SQL, working with LLMs. Knowledge of prescriptive writing and punctuation conventions for at least one language. Degrees/Certifications Required: Master’s degree highly preferred, or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years in phonetics, phonology, and other must-have skills. Disqualifiers/Red Flags BA without linguist experience or phonetics and phonology experience, no transcription. Interview 2 rounds – 45 minutes each

1. st Round – General info, background, data-related questions to assess linguist intuition; general behavioral questions
2. nd Round – Technical: prompts for SQL queries, Python, and text normalization
