Summary A Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering care within the scope of their training and expertise, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Arkansas. A Cath Lab/IVR Pre/Post Op Nurse is a registered nurse who provides nursing care to patients being admitted for surgery and caring for the patients following surgery. They are responsible for admission and preoperative care of the surgical patient, focusing on assessing the patient and developing a plan of care designed to meet the pre‑anesthesia physical, psychological, educational/health literacy, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The nursing roles during this phase focus on validating existing information and completing preparation of the patient. They also provide post‑anesthesia nursing care in the immediate post‑anesthesia period and transition patients to Phase II care, the inpatient setting, or a critical care setting for continued care or release to home. The nurse carefully monitors the condition of patients who are waking up for postoperative anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, assessing levels of consciousness, and observing patients for any side effects of anesthesia. Qualifications Must have the required education needed to be a licensed Registered Nurse by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. Current CPR certification.
