Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds [Required] Knowledge of MRI procedures [Required] Knowledge of MRI scanners [Required] Ability to learn and grow with new technology [Required] Customer Service skills [Required] MRI Safety [Required] Basic IV skills [Required] Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment [Required] Ability to work flexibly in variable shifts, occasionally including weekends or holidays [Required] Ability to understand medical terminology [Required] Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required] Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required] Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required] General computer skills and PACS [Preferred] General physics and anatomy [Preferred] Experience/knowledge of computers/networking [Required] Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required] Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education [Required] Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required] Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff [Required] Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail [Required] Excellent customer service skills [Required] Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel [Required] Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization [Required] Education: Associate [Preferred] High School Grad or Equiv [Required] Work Experience: 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program [Preferred] Additional Information: Additional Licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
