Permitting Specialist

As we continue to expand, we are seeking a motivated and skilled OSP Engineering Permit Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in the design, implementation, and permitting of our fiber-optic network infrastructure.As a OSP Engineering Permit Specialist at Lyte Fiber LLC, you will be responsible for managing, preparing, submitting, and tracking all permits required for fiber optic network construction projects. This role ensures timely approvals across jurisdictions and supports both aerial and underground deployments to maintain project timelines and compliance standards.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and submit permit applications including ROW/encroachment, traffic control, and utility permitsCoordinate joint-use pole applications and make-ready requirements with pole ownersTrack and manage permit status across multiple jurisdictionsWork closely with engineering, construction, and project management teamsEnsure compliance with local, state, and utility regulationsManage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlinesMaintain accurate permitting records and documentationCommunicate with municipalities, DOT agencies, and utility providersRequired Qualifications:3+ years of telecom or OSP permitting experienceStrong understanding of fiber construction (FTTH, FTTB; aerial and underground)Experience with ROW, DOT, and municipal permitting processesKnowledge of joint-use and make-ready processesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawingsMust be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookStrong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred but not requiredExperience in fiber design, drafting, or project engineering is strongly preferredExperience in fast-paced telecom or fiber deployment environmentsFamiliarity with permitting software and tracking systemsExperience working with utility pole owners and agenciesProficiency in AutoCAD, including production of accurate 2D drawings for aerial/underground systems and construction documents.Additional Duties:Attend various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met.Provide weekly reports and update management on status and issues.Work with PMO and provide regular updates on schedule, delays, and what steps may be required to mitigate the delays.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
