Location: City, State

Unit Capacity: 14 - 22 Beds

Staffing: Dependent on acuity and census

• Day Shift: Charge Nurse, 4-6 Nurses (preferred charge nurse free), Unit Secretary
• Night Shift: Charge Nurse, 4-6 Nurses (preferred charge nurse free)

Patient Ratios: Med/Surg 4:1

Equipment & Technology

Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Required Skills

Must-Have Skills:

• BLS Certification
• PALS Certification

Preferred Skills:

• ACLS Certification

Typical Procedures

The unit performs a variety of essential procedures including:

• Cleft Palate Repair
• Appendectomy (appy)
• Chest Tube Management
• Lumbar Punctures
• Seizure Management
• Non-Invasive Cardiology (no neurosurgery or stroke, no removal of foreign body from airway)

The unit currently provides services in:

• Neuro
• Orthopedic
• General Surgery
• Thoracic Cases (e.g., Thoracotomy, Thoracoscopy, Pectus Bar Implants)

Certifications Required

• BLS Certification
• PALS Certification

Floating Areas

Float to NICU Level 1 or 2 only.

Dress Code

Scrub Color/Attire: Royal Blue
