Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer

Tetra Tech is seeking a technically driven Senior Water/WW Engineer (Civil PE) to join our Boston, MA office. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is passionate about civil and water/wastewater infrastructure design and is interested in progressing toward a technical leadership role with a focus on project management. You’ll play a key technical role on multidisciplinary teams delivering complex municipal and utility projects throughout New England and across the U.S.Our Boston team supports clients with innovative, practical solutions for water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, stormwater management, and site infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while gaining exposure to project delivery, coordination, and client-facing work.Essential Functions:Plan and design water/wastewater treatment, distribution/conveyance, and pumping systems. Assist with master planning/analyzing/modeling for long-term infrastructure improvements of municipal sewer systems.Manage project design tasks such as hydraulic calculations, pipe and equipment sizing, and detailed civil design.Prepare construction documents, including drawings, technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates.Work as a task lead on water/wastewater projects, mentoring junior staff.Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design quality and technical accuracy.Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction phases.Assist with site visits, field investigations, and occasional construction observation.Work closely with CAD designers, junior engineers, and other technical staff.Collaborate with clients on project scoping and work with multidisciplinary teams on delivery.Work with senior engineers on business development, help develop and present at conferences, and stay active with associations.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.Professional Engineer (PE) license.8+ years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure or water/wastewater projects.Strong technical background in one or more of the following: site grading, utilities, hydraulics, treatment processes, or stormwater systems.Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with Revit, InfoWater/InfoWorks, or similar tools is a plus.Solid written and verbal communication skills.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel (~15%) to project sites and client meetingsCompensation is dependent on work location, individual experience, and job qualification.
