Assist the staff by performing clerical and patient care duties under the direction of an RN. Maintain and update patient records in a timely, orderly manner. Acknowledge and greet customers upon arrival to unit and demonstrate enthusiastic friendly approach.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs delegated direct patient care activities under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Reports conditions of patients including changes or abnormal findings to Primary Nurse, Charge Nurse, or Provider
• Provides nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights and identifies resources to meet patient needs.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Correctly and efficiently completes, documents, and communicates physician orders and care provided. Correctly utilizes computer systems and serves as a unit resource.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, infection prevention, and patient quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.
• Maintains a well-organized, appropriately stocked and clean work environment and provides an environment that is conducive to workflow.
• Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required.

Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.

Must have completed Fundamentals of Nursing course or a Nursing Assistant Program or have experience as an ED Technician or Patient Care Technician in an acute care or nursing home setting.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.

Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology. Skill in English grammar and spelling. Neat, legible handwriting. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and reports. Excellent communication skills. Ability to use office equipment, such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers. Knowledge of patient care tasks and techniques to provide nursing care. Ability to report changes in the patient's condition to the professional nurse. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe working environment. Skill in maintaining patient care record. Ability to communicate clearly.
