Road Maintenance WorkerThis assignment is for the Garberville area. This position is responsible for a variety of duties, including:Drives construction equipment to and from job sites; loads and unloads equipment from trucks; operates a variety of construction equipment including gradalls, graders, transporters, dozers, rock crushers, front-end loaders, motor rollers, pavers and related equipment.Sets up, operates, maintains and disassembles crusher equipment; monitors crusher operations; performs specialized crusher repair and maintenance work.Inspects equipment, performs preventive maintenance and reports needed repairs.Excavates, backfills, grades and rolls construction and repair sites.Loads materials and supplies.Operates equipment used in road maintenance and construction, earth moving and grading; cuts to grade.Checks job sites for potential hazards; reads blueprints, plans and cut sheets; determines precautions necessary for safe operations.Work Schedule:Summer hours: M-Th, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, 1/2 hour lunchWinter hours: M-F, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 1/2 hour lunchPlease note: This recruitment is specifically for the Garberville; however, the referred list may be used to fill vacancies in any of the crews, which include: Hoopa, McKinleyville, Freshwater, Ferndale, Rohnerville, Mow Crew.This position is represented by the AFSCME bargaining unit.
