Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Engine Captain) Indian preference will be applied to candidates that are interested in applying for the positions in the following locations only: Parker, AZ Ignacio, CO Towaoc, CO Fort Hall, ID Crow Agency, MT Harlem, MT Lame Deer, MT Poplar, MT Belcourt, ND Dulce, NM Mesalero, NM San Juan Pueblo (Ohkay Owingeh), NM Zuni, NM Umatilla, OR Fort Duchesne, UT Saint George, UT Fort Washakie, WY Indian preference will NOT be applied to those candidates interested in applying to locations not listed above. As a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Engine Captain) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Exercises supervisory authority to regularly assigned firefighters within a fire engine crew. Performs administrative program management functions such as planning, budget execution, and stewardship of facilities, equipment, vehicles, and accountable property. Applies an experienced understanding of firefighter safety, fire behavior, topography of the area weather, fuels, and training in fire management. Plans action and directs utilization of fireline resources; directs assigned suppression operations and recommends and implements tactical strategies for suppressing fires.
