Clinical Pharmacist Lead
The Clinical Pharmacist Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications, and providing leadership to the pharmacy team. This role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals, managing pharmacy staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Clinical Pharmacist Lead will also play a key role in optimizing medication therapy management and enhancing patient care.
Essential Functions
Pharmacy Operations:
- Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storage of medications and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding the handling, storage, and dispensing of controlled substances.
- Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products such as intravenous (IV) admixtures and other compounded sterile products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with protocols.
- Ensure compliance with sterile compounding practices in accordance with USP standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize medication use and improve patient outcomes.
- Implement and manage medication therapy management programs.
Education and Training:
- Provide education and training to pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients regarding medication use and safety.
- Conduct regular training and competency assessments for staff involved in sterile compounding.
- Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice and medication therapies.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to pharmacy operations, including controlled substances and sterile compounding.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assurance activities to ensure adherence to standards.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits.
Research and Quality Improvement
- Participate in research initiatives and quality improvement projects related to pharmacy services.
- Analyze medication use data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages professional development.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of pharmacy personnel.
Staffing:
- Review and interpret medication orders, ensuring appropriateness and safety.
- Provide expert clinical consultation to healthcare providers regarding medication therapy.
- Monitor patient medication therapies for efficacy, safety, and adherence.

Job Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school required
- Post-graduate residency training preferred or equivalent practice experience
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmacy operations
License/Certification
- Active pharmacist license in California
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $75.21 - $100.96 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
