Industrial Maintenance Technician

Work Schedule: 10 - 12-hour shifts; Overtime is required. Starting Pay: $22.85 - 30.73 Hr. Full or Part Time: Full-time only Reports to: Maintenance Foreman and/or Delegated Authority Basic Qualifications One (1) year of industrial or military maintenance experience OR a 2-year technical degree in Maintenance Mechanics or an Engineering degree. Experience with industrial maintenance practices and policies. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain the Maintenance Technician tool set. Ability and desire to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when required. Job Summary The Maintenance Technician collaborates with a high-performing maintenance team to ensure the timely completion of tasks, optimizing equipment functionality and minimizing downtime. This position works closely with operations personnel to diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical issues while prioritizing safety and quality in every assignment. Key Responsibilities Safely and efficiently fulfill tasks assigned by the Maintenance Foreman. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production and support equipment. Install, repair, and maintain: Mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gears, belts, and couplings. Conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical schematics. Accurately use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, tachometers). Assist with troubleshooting and replacing motors (including 480V), wiring, and basic controls as directed. Weld and perform fabrication as needed to support maintenance tasks. Complete work orders effectively and document repairs accurately. Maintain housekeeping standards in assigned areas daily. Report any equipment issues promptly to the Maintenance Foreman. Be flexible and fill in on other jobs or assist other departments as needed. Safety Requirements This is a safety-sensitive role due to regular work around moving, automatic, and mobile equipment. Consistently follow all plant and departmental safety rules and procedures. Understand and apply lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures for assigned equipment. Participate in weekly safety meetings and job-specific safety reviews. Understand and follow Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and all safe work practices. Key Differentiators for Advanced Role Experience troubleshooting and repairing conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Familiarity with preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance practices. Skilled in reading complex technical drawings and schematics. Experience with precision tools and alignment (e.g., laser alignment). Ability to use multi-meters and test electrical components. Experience with installation and change-out of 480V motors. Physical Demands Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, climbing ladders or stairs, and working at heights. Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.; rare lifting up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Ability to work in confined spaces and at various elevations. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, airborne particles, temperature extremes, outside weather, and loud noise (hearing protection required in designated areas). Repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. Noise level is typically moderate but can be loud in designated areas.
