Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Charge Experience: Previous Patient Ratio Experience: 6 License: Permanent license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: Surgical experience in urology, trauma, orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, and other surgical diagnoses. BLS certification is mandatory. ACLS is preferred. Description: The position requires a registered nurse with surgical experience. Candidates must have experience with urology, trauma, orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, and other surgical diagnoses. The nurse will manage patient care for medical-surgical patients in an orthopedic surgical unit. Responsibilities include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, and chest tube management. Candidates should be familiar with colostomy and ileostomy care. The role involves feeding tube management, heparin administration, and high flow nasal cannula use. Isolation precautions and PPE management are necessary skills. The nurse will manage peripheral lines, pre/post hemodialysis care, and total joint replacement patients. Starting and maintaining IVs and caring for surgical drains is also required. Wound care, including the use of wound vacs, is a key responsibility. The patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. The position will require working every other weekend. The patient ratios for nights are 6. The unit has interdisciplinary support including therapy, pharmacy, and social services. Special procedures involved may include continuous bladder irrigation and tracheostomy care. It is essential to have experience in trauma patient care.
