Position Overview Veterinary Technician – Full‑time and Part‑time positions available at Guardian Veterinary Specialists in Brewster, NY. Compensation: $30.00–$40.00 per hour, overnight differential, $10,000 signing bonus, license transfer covered. 401(k) with contribution, health, dental, vision insurance, paid time off, parental leave, referral bonus. Responsibilities Shift and schedule: 3- or 4-day work week, including weekends, holidays, and calls. Perform nursing care tasks, patient monitoring, and treatments. Use understanding of common diseases, physical assessment, and monitoring parameters to accurately triage incoming patients. Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications, and understand potential adverse effects. Set up, monitor, and administer intravenous fluid therapy, including constant rate infusions and blood transfusion therapy. Contribute to incoming outpatient and ongoing inpatient care. Collect samples and perform in‑house diagnostic tests. Perform nursing care tasks such as placing/maintaining urinary catheters, nasoenteral tubes, nasal oxygen tubes, chest and abdominal tubes. Administer, monitor, and maintain patients under general anesthesia. Perform vascular access techniques including jugular catheter placement, sampling line placement, central line placement. Participate in formulating treatment, anesthetic, and nursing care plans. Conduct treatments according to protocolized plans. Aid in managing patient care workload to ensure uncompromised care. Organize work area and exercise time management skills for personal efficiency. Prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks calmly. Client communication. Additional duties as assigned based on position/department. Qualifications NYS Veterinary Technician’s license. Experience in a veterinary hospital preferred. Reliable transportation. Able to perform physically demanding work, lifting up to 50 lbs. Flexibility to accommodate shift work in a 24‑hour hospital. Excellent people skills and effective communication in person, email, phone. Love of animals and passion to help and heal. Good work ethic.
