Facility JanitorMaintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public. Primary duties are to clean public areas, classrooms, offices, and restrooms to prepare them for use the next day.Responsibilities and DutiesAll Areas - DailyEmpty and replace liners as needed in waste containersDisinfect waste containers a minimum of once a weekRemove all trash to collection pointDust, clean with germicidal disinfectant all counters, desks, and sinks and refill dispensers as neededDust and spot clean all surfaces at eye level and belowVacuum and spot clean all carpeted floor areasSweep floor with treated dust mopSpot mop with a neutral cleaner on all hard surface floorsVacuum all entrance matsSpot clean walls as neededDust windowsills as neededSpot clean windows as neededTurn off all lightsShut and lock all doors which were locked upon enteringInspect building and grounds for trash and debrisAll Areas – WeeklyClean entrance glass doorsClean and disinfect all drinking fountainsClean and disinfect all glass/frames, mirrors, switch covers, fixtures, all parts of the doors/frames, and bright workDamp mop ceramic tile floors with tile and grout solutionClean interior and exterior of microwave ovens in kitchen, lunchroom, and teacher's loungesAll Areas – MonthlyDust window blinds and windowsillsClean air ducts, return air grates, and filter gratesRestrooms – DailySweep and damp mop restroom floors with germicidal disinfectantClean all surfaces of basins, bowls, and urinalsWash and disinfect both sides of toilet seats with germicidal disinfectantWipe down partitions, including hinges and hardwareClean and refill soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towelsEmpty waste paper and receptacles (replace liners where necessary)Clean and disinfect all glass/frames, mirrors, switch covers, fixtures, all parts of the doors/frames, and bright workSpot clean restroom wallsJanitor's Closets – DailyLeave area clean and organizedSweep floorsClean janitor's sinkWipe down electrical cordsKeep shelves dusted and organizedKeep walls clean, wipe down as neededSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNo supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High School Diploma or equivalent preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of custodial supplies, cleaning methods and techniquesAbility to follow written and oral instructions and work independently under limited supervisionExperience:Job related experience is preferred
