Respiratory Therapist I - Float Pool

Respiratory Therapist – Respiratory Care Float Pool (Full Time, Day Shift 7a‑7p). Eligible for up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus and up to $5,000 relocation bonus. Job Summary The Licensed Respiratory Therapist assesses, implements, and evaluates the delivery of respiratory care services in accordance with hospital standards and department policies to monitor and evaluate patient status. Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program. Licensure, Registration and Certification Valid Oklahoma Provisional / Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP) or temporary letter to practice issued by the Oklahoma Medical Board; Certified / Registered Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Essential Certifications & Trainings Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire. Work Experience 0‑6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Medication administration via nebulizer or metered dose inhaler Humidity and aerosol therapy Medical gas administration Incentive spirometry Respiratory mechanics PEP therapy Pulse oximetry Chest physiotherapy CPR Mechanical ventilation (invasive and non‑invasive) Intubation, extubation, suctioning and bronchoscopy assistance Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail in clinical and numerical data analysis Basic PC skills for documentation and data entry Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assess and deliver care to patients in non‑critical care areas, considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Provide mechanical ventilation, both invasive and non‑invasive, and monitor patient parameters; attend to ventilator maintenance and setting changes. Perform computer data entry, verify physician orders, and document pertinent clinical information accurately in the medical record. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrate professional judgment in changing patient or department situations. Delegate and supervise tasks to appropriate staff members as needed. Ensure respect for patients' rights and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and medical staff. Participate in department meetings, attend in‑services, and complete variance reports to support department/hospital goals. Prioritize and perform skills appropriate to the patient population; anticipate patient and department needs. Respond to code blues, RIT/CRIT calls, and transports in a timely manner. Mentor new personnel and assist in monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care. Participate actively in projects and processes designed to improve patient outcomes. Decision Making Independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical field. Working Relationships Coordinate activities of others; lead peers in similar work; work directly with patients, internal and external customers, and other healthcare professionals.
