MustHave Qualifications

• Minimum 4+ years of trade experience
• Strong basic math, reading, and comprehension skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints (metric & standard)
• Knowledge of layout, fitup, and fabrication of steel plate and beam
• Experience using trade tools such as: grinder, hand torch, hydraulic jack, ratchet jack, chain fall, comealong, combination square, framing square, hand level, plumb bob

NicetoHave Skills

• 6+ years marine, shipbuilding, or construction experience
• Knowledge of unit setting and erection, including use of datum lines
• Familiarity with fitup and alignment tolerances
• Advanced blueprint reading skills

Position Overview

The FirstClass Shipfitter is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and erection of metal components used in the construction of marine vessels. Work may include:

• Structural layout and fitup
• Preparing steel for welding
• Working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions
• Supporting production across multiple shifts depending on project demand
