HVAC Technician III, Data Center

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on all HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps.
• Operate, maintain, and upgrade Building Automation Software and controls, including pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive systems.
• Oversee HVAC air distribution systems, such as air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual commitments for mechanical services and maintenance.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and technical expertise to junior technicians, supporting their development and training.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to after-hours assignments as required.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance activities and system performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support facility operations.
• Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role.
• Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
• Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
• Ability to satisfactorily complete any required client background checks or training.
• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred.
• Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
• Travel up to 50% to job sites as needed
