Restaurant Server (Part-Time)

Location: Hotel Zoe, 425 N Point St, San Francisco, CA 94133, USA Reporting to our Restaurant Management/Supervisory team, the Part‑Time Server professionally provides guests with information about the culinary and beverage selections available, helps guests navigate menus, collects selections, accurately presents, and serves items, ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the experience, and communicates effectively with team members and management to prevent and resolve any issues. The server will also be responsible for payment processing and assisting in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment. Part‑Time Schedule AM Shift – 6:30 am to 11:00 am PM Shift – 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm Schedule varies Key Responsibilities Know and speak eloquently about the hotel, restaurant, food and beverage offerings, wine, beer, and cocktail selections. Gain insights into a guest dining preference through verbal and nonverbal cues. Be respectful and courteous to all colleagues and guests. Maintain the ambiance and service standards of the hotel throughout the dining experience. Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies. Prepare the room for dining by setting tables, decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, polishing glassware, and polishing utensils. Transmit orders to bar and kitchen by recording guests' choices, identifying special dietary needs, food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests. Keep kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression. Serve orders by picking up and delivering guests' choices from bar and kitchen and delivering accompaniments and condiments from service areas. Respond to additional guest requirements by inquiring about needs and observing the dining process. Maintain table settings by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, maintaining beverage service, and being alert to patron spills or other special needs. Properly handle various payment options; obtain revenues by totaling charges, issuing bill, accepting payment, delivering bill and payment to host, returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons. Conclude dining experience by acknowledging choice of restaurant and inviting patrons to return. Capable of providing instruction and assistance to the server assistant in their station. Successfully resolve any guest issues and complaints in a calm manner and communicate all concerns to management. Restock service stations as needed. Required Qualifications Capability of offering a charismatic and friendly style of service tailored to specific guests and their needs, building a rapport with guests to establish future business. The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal. The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. The ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues. The ability to convey technical information through writing to a nontechnical audience so the recipients easily understand the information and can quickly and correctly apply it. Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle a fast‑paced environment and effectively manage an assigned station to ensure guest satisfaction. Learn and retain the product knowledge relative to the position on the floor. Knowledge of Food & Beverage and Private Dining operational procedures is beneficial. Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect the department is preferred. General understanding of POS systems and ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems is preferred. Ability to exercise personal discipline and extra diligence to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner. Flexible schedule – willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Qualification Standards High school or equivalent preferred. Two years of high‑end hotel restaurant server experience preferred. RBS and ServSafe Food Handler Certification required. All colleagues must maintain a neat and well‑groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided). Physical Requirements Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks. Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
