As an MS Registered Nurse (RN) you will play a vital role in making communities healthier through compassionate and skilled nursing care. About Our Team The Med/Surg unit provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients, employing the nursing process in accordance with scope, standards of practice, and organizational policy. The role involves coordinating total nursing care, participating in patient and family teaching, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. How You'll Contribute Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments. Documents patient care provided. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient. Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse‑to‑patient ratios. Manages ventilators, CPAP/BIPAP, and vapotherms. Titrates and maintains critical drips on ICU patients, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects. Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer. Qualifications Certifications: BLS required within one month of hire; ACLS required within one year; PALS required within one year; Handle with Care within 30 days of orientation. Education: Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Licenses: Current Kentucky or compact state RN license.
