Social Media Specialist

$57k - $67k

Lifechange

Description The Social Media Specialist is a creative, strategic, and highly organized digital content professional responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing social media content across multiple platforms and brands in support of senior leadership. This role is responsible for translating sermons, teachings, leadership insights, ministry initiatives, and other meaningful moments into compelling digital content that strengthens brand visibility, expands audience reach, drives engagement, and communicates messages with clarity and impact. The Social Media Specialist supports an established portfolio where each lane serves a distinct audience and carries unique messaging priorities. This position must understand those distinctions while maintaining consistency with established standards and the broader organizational vision. This role requires more than the ability to publish content. The Social Media Specialist must demonstrate creative intuition, strong storytelling capabilities, technical proficiency, and a working understanding of digital audience behavior. The ideal candidate recognizes opportunities to transform existing content into meaningful digital experiences while proactively developing fresh concepts that increase visibility, engagement, and audience connection. Working collaboratively with leadership, creative teams, production personnel, and other stakeholders, the Social Media Specialist manages content calendars, develops and publishes platform-specific content, monitors community engagement, evaluates performance, and recommends improvements that strengthen digital effectiveness. Success in this position requires an individual who is equally comfortable thinking strategically and executing independently, managing multiple priorities, responding to emerging opportunities, and consistently delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. Core Competencies Social Media Strategy & Audience Growth: Demonstrates the ability to develop and execute social media strategies that increase brand visibility, audience engagement, platform reach, and digital influence while aligning content with established organizational and brand objectives. Creative Storytelling & Content Development: Possesses strong creative instincts and the ability to identify compelling moments, develop engaging narratives, and transform sermons, teachings, events, and other source material into relevant, platform-specific digital content. Digital Platform & Technical Proficiency: Demonstrates working knowledge of major social media platforms, content creation tools, publishing systems, video editing applications, and platform-specific practices that influence content performance and discoverability. Content Planning & Project Execution: Effectively manages multiple content calendars, production timelines, publishing schedules, deliverables, and competing priorities while maintaining organization, accuracy, and consistent follow-through. Analytics & Performance Optimization: Understands social media performance indicators, interprets audience and engagement data, identifies trends, and applies insights to improve content effectiveness, audience growth, and overall digital strategy. Character Traits Creative: Demonstrates imagination, curiosity, and originality while consistently identifying fresh approaches to communicating messages, presenting content, and engaging digital audiences. Proactive: Anticipates content needs, recognizes opportunities, takes initiative, and moves assignments forward without requiring excessive direction or follow-up. Detail-Oriented: Maintains exceptional attention to messaging, spelling, grammar, visual presentation, brand consistency, publishing accuracy, and content quality. Teachable: Receives feedback, coaching, creative direction, and correction with humility and professionalism, demonstrating a willingness to refine ideas, improve execution, and collaborate effectively. Discerning: Exercises sound judgment, confidentiality, emotional intelligence, and professional discretion when handling sensitive information, managing public‑facing communication, and supporting senior leadership. Spiritual Responsibilities Demonstrate an uncompromised commitment to Change Church's vision, values, core beliefs, and statement of faith. Be an active participant in the ministry of Change Church. Be a born‑again Christian who conducts personal and professional affairs in accordance with the Bible and maintains a lifestyle consistent with Scripture. Understand that every Change Church employee contributes to the mission of helping people change their lives through the Gospel so they can change the world and is considered a spiritual leader within the church. Commit to pray for the First Family, leadership, and membership of Change Church. Lead in generosity to the church through consistent giving of tithes and offerings. Champion, support, and advocate for the vision of the church. Essential Functions and Responsibilities General Expectations Serve in excellence by being early and prepared for all scheduled meetings. Establish and foster exemplary relationships with staff, non‑staff workers, church members, vendors, and the community, representing Change Church with integrity, professionalism, and warmth. Demonstrate a servant’s heart and a willingness to support organizational needs beyond assigned workflows when appropriate. Contribute to cultivating a healthy, honor‑driven, growth‑oriented, and spiritually strong organizational culture. Social Media Strategy & Brand Management Support the development and execution of comprehensive social media strategies that strengthen digital presence, audience engagement, and brand growth. Manage the day‑to‑day social media presence of assigned brands, including Pastor Dharius Daniels, Daniels Den, Real Life Seminary, and the Third Way Pastors & Ministers Collective. Develop an understanding of each brand’s mission, audience, communication priorities, tone, and visual identity to ensure content is relevant and appropriately positioned. Maintain consistent messaging, visual presentation, and brand standards across all assigned social media accounts. Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness, audience reach, engagement, and content discoverability. Recommend creative approaches, emerging content formats, platform features, and digital opportunities that align with established brand objectives. Monitor changes in platform algorithms, audience behavior, and social media trends to inform ongoing content decisions. Collaborate with senior leadership and appropriate stakeholders to ensure digital communication reflects approved priorities, messaging, and strategic direction. Content Creation & Digital Storytelling Develop original, engaging, and platform‑appropriate content that communicates messages clearly, creatively, and effectively. Identify compelling moments from sermons, teachings, leadership conversations, coaching sessions, conferences, events, and other approved source material. Transform long‑form video and recorded content into engaging short‑form digital assets, including Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok videos, and other relevant formats. Edit video content to improve pacing, storytelling, clarity, visual appeal, and audience retention. Develop captions, headlines, hooks, descriptions, and other written content that reflect the intended message and established brand voice. Create or coordinate basic digital graphics, visual assets, and supporting creative materials as needed. Adapt content for different audiences, platforms, and communication objectives rather than publishing identical content across every channel. Identify opportunities to repurpose existing content into new formats that extend its relevance, reach, and impact. Contribute fresh content concepts and creative recommendations that strengthen storytelling and audience connection. Ensure published content meets established standards for visual quality, accuracy, grammar, messaging, and overall presentation. Content Planning, Scheduling & Publishing Develop, maintain, and execute organized content calendars for all assigned brands and social media platforms. Coordinate publishing schedules to ensure content is distributed consistently and aligned with organizational priorities, programs, events, and campaigns. Manage the preparation, scheduling, publishing and monitoring of approved social media content. Track content assignments, deadlines, approvals, production requirements, and outstanding deliverables. Coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to secure necessary video footage, graphics, photographs, messaging, and other content resources. Anticipate upcoming content needs related to sermons, events, leadership initiatives, programs, and special announcements. Ensure content is prepared and submitted for review within established approval timelines. Verify the accuracy of captions, graphics, links, tags, dates, and other publishing details before content goes live. Maintain organized content files, creative assets, and publishing records to support efficient workflow and future content repurposing. Adjust publishing schedules and priorities as needed to accommodate time‑sensitive communication and emerging opportunities. Platform Management & Optimization Manage assigned social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, TikTok, X, and other approved digital channels. Apply platform‑specific best practices related to content formatting, video dimensions, captions, hashtags, keywords, posting schedules, and audience engagement. Optimize content titles, descriptions, thumbnails, metadata, and other discoverability elements where applicable. Monitor platform updates, emerging features, and changing digital trends that may influence content strategy or execution. Ensure social media profiles, biographies, links, featured content, and other account information remain accurate and current. Identify opportunities to improve the presentation, organization, and accessibility of content across assigned platforms. Maintain appropriate organization and security of social media accounts, publishing tools, and digital assets in accordance with established procedures. Identify technical issues, publishing errors, or account concerns and communicate them promptly to appropriate leadership. Audience Engagement & Community Management Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions, and other audience interactions across assigned social media platforms. Engage with digital audiences in a manner that reflects established brand voice, professionalism, hospitality, and organizational values. Support meaningful community interaction by responding to appropriate inquiries, encouraging engagement, and identifying opportunities for audience connection. Exercise discretion when addressing sensitive, controversial, confidential, and high‑visibility digital interactions. Identify comments, messages, or public conversations requiring leadership attention and elevate them through established communication channels. Monitor audience sentiment, recurring questions, and engagement patterns to identify opportunities for content improvement. Help maintain a positive, respectful, and welcoming digital environment across assigned platforms. Protect the reputation and integrity of assigned brands through thoughtful, professional, and appropriate online engagement. Analytics, Reporting & Performance Improvement Monitor and evaluate social media performance across assigned brands and platforms. Track relevant performance indicators, including reach, impressions, engagement, follower growth, video views, audience retention, and other applicable metrics. Prepare regular performance summaries highlighting content effectiveness, audience trends, growth opportunities, and areas requiring improvement. Identify high‑performing content and analyze contributing factors to inform future creative and publishing decisions. Evaluate the effectiveness of content formats, publishing schedules, messaging approaches, and platform‑specific strategies. Recommend adjustments to improve audience engagement, content discoverability, and overall digital performance. Monitor relevant social media trends and comparable digital content to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Use available analytics and audience insights to support informed decisions rather than relying exclusively on personal preferences or assumptions. Communicate relevant performance findings and recommendations to appropriate leadership. Creative Collaboration & Project Coordination Collaborate with senior leadership, creative personnel, video production teams, graphic designers, and other stakeholders to support digital content needs. Participate in creative planning meetings, content discussions, and project coordination sessions as assigned. Translate approved creative direction and communication objectives into actionable content assignments and deliverables. Coordinate with internal teams and approved external contractors to obtain necessary assets and support content production. Communicate content needs, project timelines, outstanding deliverables, and potential obstacles clearly and promptly. Provide creative input and recommendations that improve the quality, effectiveness, and relevance of digital content. Maintain accountability for assigned responsibilities while supporting collaborative decision‑making and established approval processes. Demonstrate flexibility when content priorities, creative direction, or organizational needs change. Executive Support, Brand Stewardship & Confidentiality Provide responsive and professional social media and digital content support to senior leadership. Maintain a high level of discretion when working with sensitive information, unpublished content, internal discussions, and confidential organizational matters. Exercise sound judgment when selecting, editing, presenting, or recommending content associated with senior leadership. Ensure public‑facing content accurately represents approved messages, perspectives, and communication priorities.
