Build, power, and protect the systems that move us forward

Step onto the floor in Tonawanda and start your shift by reviewing overnight logs and schematics. You’ll walk the line, listen for anomalies, check control cabinets, and jump into action when a drive trips or a robot cell needs attention. As a Journeyperson Electrician, you’ll own the layout, install, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex plant electrical equipment and circuits—keeping production safe, stable, and efficient.

What you’ll do

• Work safely—every time—by following OSHA and GM procedures.
• Maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment and related components.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults quickly to minimize downtime.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on plant machinery and systems.
• Interpret electrical drawings and wiring schematics with accuracy.
• Collaborate across departments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills on control systems.

Minimum qualifications

• Six (6) or more years of experience as an Electrician OR a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Willing and able to work flexible hours across day, afternoon, or night shifts; available for overtime, weekends, and holidays, often with short notice.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical demands

• Respond quickly to safety instructions, alarms, and signals.
• Stand and work for extended periods; navigate a busy production environment.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach as tasks require.
• Lift or carry up to 50 lbs. depending on department; occasional sitting.
• Operate mobile equipment when needed.

Compensation, shifts, and status

This role may be filled as a Journeyperson In Training (JIT) or Journeyperson. JIT pay range: $37.77–$44.06 per hour; Journeyperson rate: $44.96 per hour. Final status and pay are determined by certificates/credentials and interview scoring.
