Orthopedic Technician

Under the supervision of the registered nurse, the orthopedic tech performs specific duties that support patient care. These duties include cast application, DME application, maintaining DME inventory, technical procedures, and direct and indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing comprehensive care to patients and contribute to the efficient operation of the clinic. Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the registered nurse provides patient care.
• Under the direction of the physician or the registered nurse, performs technical procedures which contribute to safe patient care.
• Performs technical duties which contribute to safe patient care.
• Participates in educational activities that contribute to patient care, staff education, and self-development.
• Effectively contributes to the operational support of the clinic.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: Two (2) years of Orthopedic and/or Ambulatory experience required. Licensure: Orthopedic Technician Certification or Medical Assistant certification preferred. Special Skills: Must have a knowledge of anatomy and skill in cast application. Physical Demand: Requires good manual dexterity; ability to use power equipment; assist with lifting patients, stand or walk most of the workday, and use good body mechanics.
