Insurance Defense Attorney - Florida PIP (Limited Term Employment)

Job Summary This position is responsible for representing clients in all areas of PIP defense practice, handling cases that are primarily low in complexity and exposure. The attorney manages all phases of cases from intake to resolution. Essential Job Functions Litigate low complexity and exposure cases and perform duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement. Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs. Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials. Proactively inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges. Consult with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files. Perform other tasks or duties to ensure efficient case management. Handle second chair trials and trials in cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure. Provide support to senior attorneys on more complex matters and receive developmental assignments of moderate complexity or exposure. Physical Actions Job is performed in-person at a Farmers office or virtually at an approved alternative work location. Physical work may include work performed at field locations. The environment is indoors and climate‑controlled with adequate lighting and ventilation. Standard demands include frequent sitting or standing for prolonged periods, occasional movement such as navigating stairs and uneven surfaces, lifting or carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and performing fine motor tasks such as typing. Regular travel between offices, work locations, and field sites may be required. Physical Environment Required duties are normally performed in a climate‑controlled office environment, with some exposure to uncontrolled outdoor conditions and travel via automobile and/or commercial transportation. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred. Licensed to practice law in applicable states required upon hire. Experience Requirements Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred. Special Skill Requirement Public speaking, ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving. Additional Qualification Strong verbal and listening skills.
