Vice President for Inclusive Excellence/ Chief Diversity Officer SUNY Morrisville in Morrisville, NY Type: Full-Time Salary: $120,000 per year Category: Administrative Vice Presidents; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Services Campus Title: Vice President for Inclusive Excellence/ Chief Diversity Officer Budget Title: Vice President Unit: MC Professional Rank and Salary Range: $120,000 Duration: Calendar Year (12 Months) Brief Description of Duties: SUNY Morrisville is seeking a VP for Inclusive Excellence/ Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) to provide strategic leadership for the College's efforts to advance the State University of New York's (SUNY) Four Pillars: student success, research and scholarship, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and economic development and upward mobility. This position works collaboratively across the institution to promote student and employee outcomes, strengthen an inclusive and welcoming campus climate, address achievement and opportunity gaps, and ensure that SUNY's four pillars are integrated into institutional planning, policies, practices, and decision-making. The CDO serves as a senior advisor to the President and President's Cabinet, is a member of the President's Cabinet, and serves as the College's primary liaison for SUNY initiatives and requirements that advance institutional success. The CDO also oversees compliance areas (Title VI, IX, etc.) and is responsible for ensuring that appropriate policies, training, processes, and institutional practices are in place to support compliance with applicable federal, state, and SUNY requirements. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Advise the President, Cabinet, and campus leadership on matters related to campus climate, organizational culture, belonging, and accessibility. Supervise Title IX, Title VI, Affiantive Action, and other compliance area staff. Develop, implement, assess, and continuously improve campus climate and belonging in strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, student success, and employee engagement efforts. Develop, execute and assess departmental initiatives and programs that enhance campus culture including training and professional development for faculty, staff, students, and as appropriate, external partners and community members. Coordinate campus climate assessment activities, including surveys, focus groups, listening sessions, and other methods of gathering feedback. Use climate surveys and other institutional data to identify areas of concern and recommend strategies for improvement. Serve as the College's primary point of contact for SUNY initiatives, policies, reporting requirements, and best practices related to advancing institutional success Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and other campus partners to strengthen equitable practices and lead institutional efforts in recruitment, admissions, advising, student engagement, and retention. Promote a welcoming and inclusive learning and living environment in which all students feel a sense of belonging and have equitable access to educational opportunities and support services. Serve as a resource for students and campus personnel regarding concerns related to campus climate and culture. Review College policies, procedures, and practices and make recommendations or develop new policies accordingly. Lead the College's Campus Climate Committee and coordinate the development, implementation, assessment, and updating of the College's strategic plan accordingly. Collaborate with Human Resources and campus leadership to strengthen recruitment, hiring, onboarding, professional development, promotion, and retention practices. Collaborate with the Provost, Student Affairs, Human Resources, and other campus partners to integrate inclusive practices into teaching, learning, student services, and workplace environments. Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including Title IX, Title IV, the Clery Act, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and applicable nondiscrimination requirements. Develop and manage the budget and resources associated with the CDO's portfolio. Identify opportunities for external funding, partnerships, and resources that advance the College's mission-driven priorities. Develop relationships with community organizations, educational institutions, employers, government agencies, and other partners to advance the College's mission and strengthen community engagement. Supervise assigned personnel and provide leadership, direction, performance management, and professional development for direct reports. Participate in Cabinet, institutional planning, policy development, personnel discussions, and other presidential leadership activities requiring the judgment and confidentiality appropriate to a senior-level position. Perform other duties as assigned by the President. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from an accredited institution required; doctorate preferred. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in leadership of higher education or a related educational environment, preferably within a state or community college. Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing policies and best practices as related to SUNY's four pillars (student success; research and scholarship; diversity, equity and inclusion; and economic development and upward mobility), with focused efforts on equity, inclusivity and accessibility across the entire campus population. Evidence of experience and skills in scholarly research, data analysis, assessment and knowledge/understanding relating to diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education settings. Experience with program development, strategic planning, policy development, and budget/resource management. Experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external stakeholders. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, SUNY policies, and regulations related to nondiscrimination, Title IX, Title IV, Clery Act, ADA, Section 504, and related civil rights requirements. Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment. Ability to facilitate difficult conversations and navigate complex institutional issues effectively. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office and other technology necessary to perform the functions of the position.
