Description Quality Inspector Job Description Projects Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our Quality team. For more than 50 years, Projects Inc. has manufactured complex precision-machined components for the aerospace and power systems industries. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that machined and assembled products meet all customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements prior to shipment. The Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying that aerospace components, assemblies, and finished products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards. This position performs detailed inspections throughout the manufacturing process and ensures compliance with AS9100, FAA, customer, and regulatory requirements while promoting product quality and safety. Inspection Activities Perform dimensional, visual, and functional inspections of machined components, assemblies, and materials. Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections. Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and specialized inspection tools. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T requirements, specifications, and quality plans. Review material certifications and supplier documentation for accuracy and compliance. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues. Obtain and maintain various certifications as required. Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements. Verify material certifications, process certifications, and traceability documentation. Quality Assurance Identify, document, and report nonconforming materials and products. Generate and maintain inspection records and quality documentation. Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities (RCCA). Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and aerospace standards. Documentation & Compliance Review work orders, travelers, inspection plans, and quality records for completeness and accuracy. Maintain accurate inspection reports and records in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements. Support customer, regulatory, and internal quality audits. Ensure adherence to AS9100 and customer-specific requirements. Measurement & Testing Utilize precision inspection equipment including: Calipers Micrometers Height gauges Dial indicators Optical comparators Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) Surface plate inspection equipment Verify dimensional, visual, and functional requirements of products. Monitor calibration status of inspection equipment. Continuous Improvement Assist in identifying process improvement opportunities. Support quality initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving efficiency. Participate in quality meetings and problem-solving teams. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Requirements Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Technical certification or associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Minimum 3 to 5 years or more of inspection experience in aerospace, aviation, defense, medical device, or precision manufacturing environments. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Qualifications ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification. Experience with AS9100 quality systems. Experience performing First Article Inspections (AS9102). CMM operation and programming experience. Familiarity with FAA, EASA, military, or defense industry requirements. Experience using ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Manual dexterity required for handling small precision components. Ability to perform detailed visual inspections. Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Working Conditions Manufacturing, production, laboratory, and inspection environments. May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional overtime may be required to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
