Executive Director, Department Head, Operational Risk Management

The Risk Management Group (RMG) is responsible for the development and maintenance of robust risk management and internal control frameworks across the bank. RMG works closely with business and support units to identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risks, ensuring the bank operates within its risk appetite while complying with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Within RMG, the Operational Risk function plays a critical role in strengthening the bank's resilience by overseeing the management of operational risks across processes, people, systems, and external events. The team drives a strong risk culture, supports effective governance, and provides independent challenge to ensure sustainable business growth.

• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the Bank's Operational Risk Management Framework, policies, standards, and methodologies.
• Oversee the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of operational risks across business and support functions.
• Provide independent risk oversight and challenge to ensure operational risks are effectively managed within the Bank's risk appetite.
• Partner with business units and stakeholders to evaluate key operational risk exposures and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Monitor emerging risks, industry trends, regulatory developments, and internal risk events to proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
• Manage and oversee operational risk assessments, risk and control self-assessments (RCSA), key risk indicators (KRIs), scenario analyses, and incident management processes.
• Support governance forums, risk committees, and senior management through insightful risk reporting and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and adherence to industry best practices in operational risk management.
• Drive initiatives to strengthen risk awareness, accountability, and risk culture across the organization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of risk professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Extensive experience in Operational Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or related risk disciplines within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong understanding of operational risk frameworks, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices.
• Proven experience in managing operational risk programs, including risk assessments, control evaluations, incident management, and risk reporting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive a strong risk culture within a large and complex organization.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate risk issues and recommendations to senior management and governance committees.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate emerging risks and develop innovative risk management approaches.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CPA, CIA, or equivalent will be an advantage.
