State Licensed Inpatient Coder

Working remotely, the full-time State Licensed Inpatient Coder will code and abstract diagnoses and procedures from inpatient and outpatient medical records to ensure optimal reimbursement and quality reporting. Key responsibilities Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes for inpatient and outpatient medical records Abstract key data elements required for billing and review records for clinical pertinence Communicate with medical staff to ensure accurate assignment of diagnoses and procedures Required qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT coding systems, and DRG systems Experience with hospital information systems and electronic medical record systems Understanding of medical-legal rules and regulations governing confidentiality and release of medical information
