• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930–$2,030
• Unit: 32-bed Neuro ICU with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3
• Weekend Requirement: Three weekends in every six-week schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Orientation: Approximately 12 hours
• Floating: First to float within the RN skill set; assignments may occasionally include nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice

Neuro ICU Travel Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license with an active compact or Indiana license
• At least 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of ICU experience
• At least 1 completed travel assignment
• Level II trauma experience
• Associate degree in nursing or an accepted nursing education credential
• Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• Recent Epic charting experience and willingness to complete a required competency check
• Strong neurological assessment, dysphagia screening, critical-thinking, and patient-prioritization skills
• Ability to interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs and successfully complete required telemetry testing
• Recent experience with ventilator and ETT management, sepsis protocols, and titration of sedative, paralytic, cardiac, and vasoactive infusions

Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neurological and medical patients in a Neuro ICU setting
• Care for patients with post-stroke conditions, external ventriculostomy devices, drains, post-code complications, respiratory distress, sepsis, DKA, and other high-acuity diagnoses
• Perform detailed neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, dysphagia screenings, and ongoing reassessments
• Monitor and manage ventilated patients, ETTs, telemetry, and 12-lead EKG findings
• Initiate and titrate ordered sedatives, paralytics, cardiac medications, and vasoactive infusions
• Apply evidence-based sepsis protocols and respond effectively to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation professionals, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Safely float within the established skill set and adapt to changing patient-care needs
• Participate in a teaching environment that may include precepting students or newly hired staff
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic and uphold professional standards of critical care nursing
