Home Appliance Technician Norman's Electronics
$22 - $30 per hourSSG Appliance Academy
Job Details Pay: $22 – $30 an hour Job type: Full-time Shift and schedule: Weekends as needed Position Summary Norman’s Electronics is looking for an experienced and motivated appliance repair technician to join our field service team. This is a full-time, revenue-generating role with real earning potential. The right candidate will be technically skilled, personable with customers, and driven to make the most of a strong opportunity. We are an authorized warranty service center for major appliance brands, and we use that relationship as the foundation for growing direct, cash-pay (COD) business in each market area. Norman’s brings the name, the reputation (built over 70 years in business), and the marketing. You bring the skills and the work ethic. Together, we grow the business and your commission income along with it. The Opportunity Customers want early morning appointments. They want weekend availability. Successful service companies give them that. Your schedule is flexible by design: you can choose to work Saturday or Sunday, and your days off will be either Friday–Saturday or Sunday–Monday accordingly. If we’re willing to show up when customers want, they’ll call us back. The warranty work brings you in the door. Norman’s reputation and local marketing keep the phone ringing. Technicians who do excellent work and treat customers well are the ones who drive COD growth — and their commission reflects it. The earning potential here is real and largely uncapped. Primary Responsibilities Diagnose and repair residential appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, ranges, dishwashers, and related equipment) Perform warranty service for authorized brands within your assigned territory Deliver a consistently excellent customer experience that reinforces the Norman’s reputation and supports COD growth in your area Maintain accurate service records, parts usage, and job documentation Communicate professionally with customers on scheduling, diagnosis, and repair options If a customer is better off replacing an appliance, be honest about that. Our honesty is something customers routinely comment on about Norman’s. Schedule & Territory This is a field-based role. You’ll operate within approximately 30 miles of your home location, keeping drive times manageable and your schedule efficient. We offer a choice of work week to match your life: Tuesday through Saturday (days off: Sunday & Monday) Sunday through Thursday (days off: Friday & Saturday) Early morning appointments are available and encouraged — customers who can’t get 8 AM slots elsewhere will choose you. We want technicians who see that as an opportunity, not an inconvenience. What We Provide Company vehicle In-office customer service, scheduling, parts and inventory support Warranty service pipeline — steady, branded work from day one Compensation structure designed to reward performance and growth Qualifications Experience diagnosing and repairing residential appliances — brands such as Whirlpool, GE, LG, Samsung, Electrolux, or similar Strong customer communication skills — you are the face of Norman’s in your territory Clean driving record Must pass regular PlusOne drug tests and driving history reviews Mechanically inclined with good diagnostic instincts Self-motivated with an interest in doing quality work and earning strong commission income EPA 608 certification a plus—we’ll help you get it if you need it. Manufacturer certification or previous authorized service experience a plus Compensation This role is structured to reward technicians who perform and grow. Base salary provides stability; commission is where the real earning happens. Commission is earned on both warranty and COD work, with higher rates on COD jobs. Norman’s drives the marketing and the brand presence that grows COD volume — technicians who perform well and represent the company well see that reflected in their commission. Specific salary and commission rates are discussed during the interview process and reflect your experience and background.
