Job TitlePrimary Purpose: Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.QualificationsValid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to read and understand written instructionsAbility to communicate (verbally)Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipmentAbility to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand toolsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesGrounds and LandscapingMow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.Plant shrubs and vegetation.Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.Water grounds and apply fertilizer.Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.SafetyOperate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.Help keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.OtherTransport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.Perform any duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Equipment Used: Tractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, post hole auger, aerator. Light truck or van.Working Conditions: Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Continuous walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent districtwide travel. Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis Environment : Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent districtwide travel. Must be able to work in a tobacco free environment.
