Role Overview The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability after disease, injury, or loss of a body part. Key Responsibilities Designs individualized therapy programs using exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities. Performs diagnostic tests on muscles, nerves, and joints; assesses functional ability. Guides patients in active/passive exercises, muscle reeducation, gait, and functional training with equipment. Uses devices such as ultrasound, diathermy, whirlpools, and heat packs; manages wound care as directed. Educates patients on postural control, use of assistive devices, and therapeutic exercises for ongoing care. Conducts initial and re-evaluations, documents progress, and collaborates with the rehabilitation team. May supervise assistants, aides, volunteers, and participate in training students and staff. Qualifications & Skills: Minimum education includes a high school diploma; a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) required post-2015. Experience preferred but not mandatory; knowledge of various therapy techniques and equipment. Licensure as a Physical Therapist required; certification in pelvic health and Basic Life Support (BLS) mandatory.
