In this role, you will:• Perform structural dynamic analyses for missile and spacecraft flight hardware• Produce and maintain models generated from both in-house and commercially available software codes, that simulate mechanical loading conditions, mechanism deployment motions, and the response behavior of mission events.• Perform loads development (primary structure and component level), shock and vibration environments determination and component and system level testing and data evaluation.• Have the ability to work with a multi-disciplined team performing structural design trades, preliminary and detailed design/analysis activity and performance and maintenance assessments of operational systems.• Provide review, interpretation, flow down, and implementation of program requirements, and plan tasks and review budget and schedule to reduce cost and cycle timeThe information below reflects the standard job description for this position:Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.Basic Qualifications• Experience in structural dynamics, through education, research, or practical experience• Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as NASTRAN, NX, or similar modeling software• Familiarity of structural analysis principles, including simplified methods (e.g., hand calculations or lumped-parameter modeling)• Exposure to engineering analysis supporting any stage of product development—from early concepts to detailed design• Active or Current Secret clearance; US Citizenship RequiredDesired SkillsPractical and applied experience with vibration, modal, acoustic, or dynamic testing and analysis.A Master’s degree is strongly preferred for this positionAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentExperience working in the defense industry with practical hands on experienceExperience with missile test programs and investigating anomaliesAbility and desire to assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficientlyExperience evaluating designs using rigid body or flexible body analysis methods and toolsMechanisms, antenna, electronic component, ground support, hoisting, and test support equipment, and composite materials analysis experienceExperience with NX/Nastran, Abaqus, ADAMS, LS-Dyna, Matlab, Mathcad and/or CREOStatic, vibration, acoustic, modal, shock test experience of aerospace flight hardwareCreativity/innovation to tackle issues related to anomalous performance of any aspect of a mechanical systemProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practiceActive or Current Top Secret clearance#Space Flight SciencesPay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $88100.00 - $163700.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
