Information Technology Specialist I

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I of the Data Processing and Reporting Office, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) is responsible for serving as a subject matter expert in data reporting, utilizing systems like the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System to report on data for the California State Preschool Program (CSPP). Using Synapse tools, MS SQL, or SAS, the ITS I aggregates and reports complex data across multiple levels. The ITS I works to compile and synthesize substantial amounts of information to meet state and federal reporting requirements and collaborates with key stakeholders to evaluate and enhance CSPP programs and the California Preschool Data Collection (CAPSDAC) system, which was enacted in 2022, under Assembly Bill (AB) 22. AB 22 requires the California Department of Education to collect child data for each child enrolled as well as educator data in a CSPP operated by a local educational agency LEA, including applicable data elements collected for children in Transitional Kindergarten, as well applicable data that are collected for educators in the Kindergarten through Grade Twelve (K-12) classroom setting.. The ITS I utilizes business analysis and documents business rules and data definitions, including requirements gathering, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. The ITS I also responds to Public Records Act requests for CSPP data, and works to ensure data accuracy and quality across CSPP programs.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. Currently, the hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and working a minimum of two days per week in the office.
