Residential Supervisor II

TheDepartment of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking to fill a Residential Supervisor II(RS II) position in the Bridgewater Area. The Residential Supervisor II is responsible to supervise two (2) state operated residential homes, both located in Bridgewater, MA. Please Note: A current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license or equivalent license from the state in which you reside is required for this role. Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive.) Supervision, training, evaluation, and scheduling of approximately 25 direct support staff. Implement consumer individual service plans (ISP). Provide direct support as needed to enhance the fulfillment of the consumer's human rights, individual control, and community membership. Monitor residential and consumer funds. Oversee consumer health coordination with nursing supports. Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Department regulations, policies, and procedures. Required Qualifications: Knowledge of the fundamental types and barriers of mental health and developmental/intellectual disabilities Knowledge of principles and practices of interviewing. Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job, assessing the capabilities of subordinates and available resources; overseeing work through periodic evaluations; determining subordinates training needs and providing or arranging for such training; motivate subordinates to work effectively; determining the need for disciplinary action and either recommending or initiating disciplinary action. Ability to gather information through questioning and observing individuals and by examining recorded documents. Ability to understand, explain and apply the provisions of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, process specifications, standards and guidelines governing assigned residential activities. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with others. Ability to establish rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds. Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with staff members, individuals served, and the representatives of organizations. Ability to handle stressful and emergency situations. Ability to work in group situations. Ability to work within a team setting. Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Ability to advocate for the individuals. Ability to facilitate groups/meetings. Ability to accurately record information provided orally. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to manage a largely administrative task load. Ability to give oral and written instructions in precise, understandable manner. Ability to work with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities and/or who exhibit emotional/behavioral challenges. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Microsoft programs. Experience working with individuals have Intellectual Disabilities;Skills using communication styles and/or augmentative communication systems. Special Requirements: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Please Note: This position is located in the Southeast Residential Services program in the Bridgewater, MA area. Schedule: Full-time – 40-hour weekly position Tuesday and Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM, Wednesday & Saturday 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Thursday- 11:00AM - 7:30PM Days off – Sunday & Monday Flexibility required to meet the needs of the program/area office. This position is designated as an " EMERGENCY " position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan.This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, the selected candidate will be required to report to work. The Residential Supervisor IIposition is in a program that operates 24-hours/7 days a week. Candidates must be flexible in their work schedule. The Department requires employees in this position to be able to perform Mandatory Overtime when circumstances dictate the need. About the Department of Developmental Services: The mission of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is to create innovative and genuine opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder to participate fully and contribute meaningfully to their communities as valued members. DDS serves over 43,000 vulnerable individuals throughout their lifetimes, providing a spectrum of day, employment, and residential supports. The agency directly oversees and manages $3 billion in public funds ($2.7B+ operating budget) and approximately 5,500 staff, the largest state employee workforce of any agency in the Massachusetts executive branch of government. Education and license/certification information provided by the selected candidate(s) is subject to the Massachusetts Public Record Law and may be published on the Commonwealth's website. Education, licensure, and certifications will be verified in accordance with the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. Recommended candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening which includes: Commission for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities (CPPD) Abuse Registry Search: Criminal background check (CORI) by regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. ALL EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ON A BI-WEEKLY BASIS AND MUST HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT. This is a Civil Service Position. If there is no Civil Service list for this title, employees appointed must take and pass the next Civil Service examination when administered. Qualifications First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have (A) at least four years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in counseling, guidance, teaching or therapeutic services for individuals with developmental disabilities, of which (B) at least two years must have been in a supervisor capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below: I. A Bachelor's degree in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning disability may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience II. A Master's or higher degree in social work, rehabilitation, psychology, sociology, human services or education of people with physical and/or learning disability may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience Please Note: DSW II, III, and IV experience will count as creditable service towards parts (A) and (B) Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range .
