FABRICATION TRAINER

Position Summary:

This position ensures that fabrication team members are adequately trained in the sheet metal, copper, and glastic fabrication activities related to low-voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment production. This position requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality. This position is full time and onsite.

Addison, IL or Humble, TX

In This Role You Will:

• Train new hires to become technically competent in performing sheet metal, copper, and/or glastic part fabrication for low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Assist with onboarding activities related to safety, product familiarization, machine familiarization, and tools/equipment needed to perform job related tasks.
• Perform “classroom” style and hands on training with production team members.
• Asses new hires for competency before beginning on the job training in production.
• Asses all production team members for initial qualification and retraining.
• Act as “train the trainer” for powered industrial equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
• Provide feedback to team leads, foreman, and supervisors on individual team member skills.
• Maintain training records and training materials and documents.
• Assist in the creation of specific training programs and materials.
• Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are properly maintained and available for new hires.
• Identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective measures to mitigate risk.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
• Suggest improvements to tooling, equipment, and processes for better efficiency and quality.
• Stay updated on new technologies and techniques to implement within the department.
• Fill in for team leads or foremen as needed.
• All other tasks assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a sheet metal, copper, or glastic fabrication environment.
• Proven experience with laser, turret, press brake, welding, paint/powder coat, and other part fabrication equipment.
• Strong technical knowledge of low-voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Able to read and interpret part programs for machines, assembly drawings, 3D models, and bills of material.
• Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems for production management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and procedures applicable to fabrication and assembly manufacturing environments.
• Proven problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Oracle NetSuite ERP experience.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: This position primarily operates in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to machinery, equipment, and electrical systems.

This role also requires the ability to walk significant distances throughout the facility multiple times per day, stand for extended periods, and move comfortably within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates must be able to safely navigate the production floor and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, or lifting, as needed.
