Job Overview:

\n

We are seeking a technically strong Data Engineer / Developer to support the continued development and modernization of data solutions within a complex federal financial management environment.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience working with SQL, Python or similar development technologies, data pipelines, data transformation, and complex enterprise datasets. This individual will serve as a key technical resource helping the team understand data requirements, design and build scalable solutions, troubleshoot technical and data-quality issues, and develop trusted data products for downstream analytics and reporting.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working through ambiguous data challenges, evaluating existing data sources and processes, recommending a technical path forward, and then building the solution. The developer will work closely with data engineers, analysts, functional SMEs, developers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, maintainable, and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable data solutions supporting enterprise financial and operational processes.
\n
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, integrations, and automated data transformation processes.
\n
• Use SQL and Python or similar technologies to integrate, transform, validate, and analyze complex datasets.
\n
• Perform complex joins, aggregations, transformations, reconciliation logic, and business-rule implementation.
\n
• Develop reusable and maintainable code supporting automated data processes.
\n
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise data sources into consolidated and trusted analytical datasets.
\n
• Analyze and reconcile data across multiple systems to identify discrepancies, missing data, business-rule issues, and data-quality concerns.
\n
• Develop automated data validation and quality-control processes to ensure outputs are accurate, complete, reliable, and traceable.
\n
• Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, code issues, performance problems, and complex data-quality concerns.
\n
• Develop data models and curated datasets to support downstream reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
\n
• Support migration of existing reporting and analytical processes into more automated and scalable modern data-platform solutions.
\n
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and functional SMEs to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
\n
• Support development and modernization efforts within Databricks and the War Data Platform (WDP) environment.
\n
• Support downstream reporting and visualization solutions using Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
\n
• Document data pipelines, transformation logic, source-to-target mappings, dependencies, business rules, and technical processes.
\n
• Follow development standards and best practices for source control, testing, deployment, code review, and maintainability.
\n
• Communicate technical issues, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, analytics engineering, ETL development, data integration, or a related technical field.
\n
• Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex joins, transformations, aggregations, and working with relational data.
\n
• Hands-on development experience with Python or another relevant programming or data-development language.
\n
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines, integrations, automated data processes, or backend data solutions.
\n
• Strong understanding of relational data, data transformation, data modeling, and data-quality concepts.
\n
• Experience working with large and complex enterprise datasets.
\n
• Ability to troubleshoot code, data pipelines, transformations, and data-quality issues.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to assess an existing data environment and help determine an appropriate technical solution or architecture.
\n
• Experience gathering technical requirements and translating business needs into technical solutions.
\n
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies, platforms, and development environments quickly.
\n
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis capabilities.
\n
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
\n
• Ability to work independently while supporting a larger development team.
\n
• Must be able to pass a government security background check.
\n
• Authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience developing data solutions in Databricks.
\n
• Experience with PySpark, Apache Spark, Spark SQL, or Databricks SQL.
\n
• Experience with Palantir Foundry, Snowflake, Azure data services, AWS, or another modern cloud data platform.
\n
• Experience with Delta Lake, data lakes, data warehouses, or lakehouse architecture.
\n
• Experience implementing Bronze, Silver, and Gold data architectures.
\n
• Experience with Databricks notebooks, jobs, workflows, or Lakeflow Jobs.
\n
• Familiarity with Unity Catalog, data governance, permissions, and lineage.
\n
• Experience with Git-based version control, collaborative development, testing, and CI/CD practices.
\n
• Experience integrating data products with Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, or other BI platforms.
\n
• Previous experience working within the War Data Platform (WDP) or another Department of Defense data environment.
\n
• Experience supporting DoD, DHA, or another federal financial management organization.
\n
• Experience supporting financial, accounting, budget execution, acquisition, contract, invoice, operational, logistics, healthcare, or other federal government datasets.
\n
• Experience developing solutions requiring strong data lineage, auditability, governance, and traceability.
\n
• Experience helping teams transition from legacy or manual reporting processes to modern data platforms.
\n
• Databricks certification, such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional, is a plus.
\n

Minimum Required Years of Experience:

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience, including hands-on data engineering, software development, ETL development, data integration, or similar technical work.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
\n

Security Clearance/Investigation:

• T-3 Investigation/Tier II or ability to obtain the required government background investigation.
