Internships at NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 are paid and do not require course credit.We are seeking a highly motivated intern to work with our NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 digital team. This role will involve assisting in writing, editing, social media curation, and the overall production of daily content for our website and app. This internship will help you develop your writing and editing skills, enhance your editorial judgment, provide real-world newsroom experience, and aid in building practical skills with CMS and web publishing programs.Responsibilities:Contribute to our station’s digital content and social media accountsPitch local story ideas/anglesWrite assigned storiesAssist with phone/in-person interviewsEdit video for various online platformsPublish stories to website from news services in addition to writing original contentCut videos from newscasts and publish to website and other platformsOther miscellaneous tasks as assignedCompensation: The hourly rate for this internship is $17.75 per hour.QualificationsBasic Requirements:Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through December 2026).Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.Must be available to work 15 hours per week.Must be willing to work in-person at our station in San Diego.News writing and journalism coursework; AP style knowledge.Desired Characteristics:Students with a class standing of junior or above preferred.Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or aboveStrong writing ability, good news and content judgment, creativity, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable navigating all major social media platforms for news gathering and trend spotting.Eager to learnFlexible, team player with a positive approach to workSelf-motivatedStrong work ethicAbility to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentBilingual in Spanish is a plus.Additional Requirements:Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through to be consideredMust be willing to work in San Diego, CAMust have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be 18 years or olderAdditional InformationAs part of our selection process, external candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview with an NBCUniversal employee at one of our locations prior to a hiring decision.
